ABOUT ME
Hello, I'm Gemma and I'm a conceptual designer and brand building creative with over 15 years in the industry. Specialising in developing and bringing brands to life across a multitude of platforms for both B2C and B2B audiences.
After graduating with a degree in Graphic Design I worked for a design, print and marketing company, building a great knowledge and love for print techniques, finishes and paper. Last year I gained an MBA in Marketing with Marketing Week alongside my role as a Senior Designer for a big, iconic British brand. I'm not only able to provide visually, well crafted design, but I can support with strong marketing and strategy focused creative solutions, to create a beautiful outcome that not only engages your customer but delivers on your business, marketing and commercial objectives.
I spent 12 years working as the Senior Designer and Brand Design Consultant for Virgin Atlantic, working with all areas of the business, globally, for internal and external customers, delivering high end, creative solutions and ensuring the brands style and tone of voice was consistent and continuously evolving. I worked through a brand relaunch in 2010 and a brand refresh in 2018. In that time I've been so lucky to collaborate on projects with the likes of Microsoft, Liberty and Happy Socks. I know the importance of great customer service and a seamless experience and that's supported by a great, consistent brand identity and a foundation of strong purpose and company values. I really believe in the value of building your brand internally with your people as much as with your customers.
With experience across print and digital, both large and small formats from logo's and identities through to virtual reality sales tools, style magazines and brand advertising campaigns, I'm very much a hands on conceptual designer, but with the skills to bring advice and guidance to support the development and refinement of your brand to all sorts of projects.
In January 2019 I started Gemma Armstrong Design Ltd, with a huge passion to bring my years of design and brand building experience to other companies, large and small, I'm now working on projects covering planes and trains through to charities, travel and tourism and the luxury hotel and hospitality industry.
I have worked on many photoshoots and love art directing and producing beautiful photography for brands, from still life, products and architectural through to fashion and lifestyle. From planning, storyboarding, casting and creating wardrobe, hair and makeup style guides. So I can be with you at every stage of a project as your one consistent point of contact.
