ABOUT ME
Hello, I’m Gemma — a conceptual designer and brand-building creative with over 20 years’ experience helping brands shape, grow and communicate to both B2B and B2C audiences.
With a degree in graphic design and a mini MBA in Marketing, I bring together creativity, strategy, and commercial insight to deliver work that not only looks beautiful but performs. My experience spans brand, strategic design, and marketing, allowing me to create thoughtful, cohesive solutions that connect with your customers and support the wider business objectives.
I spent 12 years as Senior Designer and Brand Design Consultant at Virgin Atlantic, working globally across the business to deliver high-end creative, evolve the brand, and maintain a consistent, distinctive voice. During that time, I contributed to both the 2010 brand relaunch and the 2018 refresh, and collaborated with brands including Microsoft, Liberty, Vivienne Westwood and Delta Air Lines.
My work covers both print and digital, from brand identities, campaigns and marketing solutions, through to immersive experiences and large-scale events. I’m a hands-on designer who also offers clear guidance and strategic thinking to help shape and strengthen brands at every stage.
In 2019, I founded Gemma Armstrong Design to bring my experience to a wider range of clients that span travel and tourism, luxury hospitality, beauty, health and wellbeing and so on.
During this time, I've worked collaboratively as part of a wider team within companies and independently on projects. From fast turnaround marketing or event support to lengthy brand development projects and regular design support for companies that have limited design capabilities in-house or want to avoid the costs and timescales of working with an agency.
I'm also very lucky to have a little black book of amazing talent to support on projects, from copywriters, digital design experts, photographers and printers, ensuring all bases are covered.
