COIN STREET
Coin Street Community Builders is a development trust and a social enterprise in London’s South Bank. From a derelict site in 1984, the trust have created a thriving, diverse and welcoming place for people to live, work and play.
We were tasked with designing and producing a brochure which captures the story of Coin Street today. It's purpose was to improve understanding and raise awareness about how unique and special Coin Street is. In addition, it had to convey the value of what's been achieved, what's planned and gather further support.
The concept, design, copywriting, artwork and printing needed to be completed within just 5 weeks so that the brochures could be given to guests at Coin Street’s high-profile summer event.
The idea was to tell their maverick story in a punchy, highly visual way, with each spread like a poster per topic. Layers of colourful, inter-connected images emphasised people, neighbourhood and vibrant community. The robust painted headlines style echoed the spirit of the Coin Street activist campaigns and placards of the 70s and 80s that established the organisation. The copy is bite-sized for a quick and easy read and the format is anything but standard at a bespoke size to stand out from the conventional A4 – the only constraint being that it fitted in a regular C4 envelope for sensible cost control.
The brochure has been well received with plenty of appreciative feedback.
