TWO MILLION MILER GLOBE GIFT
2 million milers are the most important loyal members that fly with Virgin Atlantic. The Flying Club team wanted to recognise members who reached their 2 million miles with a bespoke, luxury gift. Approx 2-4 members reach this per year. I worked with another member of the team to research and collaborate with Bellerby and Co, the last globe makers in the UK.
As the lead designer I wanted to make each globe bespoke to the passenger, so they felt loved and appreciated. I produced a briefing document which outlined illustrations to be created that related to each person, including some key brand illustrations - aircraft, logos, crew, wings etc. Including the flight lines and an icon to represent the destinations that the 2 million miles were reached. Complete with a bespoke crafted and gold foil and spot UV finished sample card, congratulations card and branded chest container. The globes take weeks to be handcrafted, so midway through the process we sent the customer a personalised card to tell them about their gift, welcome them to the club and enclosed in the card was a slice of the hand painted globe paper, along with a link to follow the story in pictures, of their globe being made.
